There is plenty to see and do.
The Lodge is an ideal base to explore Tongariro National Park, which includes the Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu volcanoes. There are many magnificent walking tracks through the native bush and mountains, including the internationally acclaimed Tongariro Crossing, the country’s most popular one-day walk.
The 17 km Tongariro River Trail adjacent to the Tongariro River is extremely popular for both walking and mountain biking. The Lodge has direct access on to the trail.
The Lodge is an easy 35 minute drive from the Whakapapa ski field on Mt Ruapehu.
Other popular activities include Turangi’s 18-hole golf course, the hot thermal pools at Tokaanu (5 minutes by car) and Taupo’s restaurants, bars, shopping and action adventures.
